A Romp with Marti Pellow & The Witches of Eastwick
The musical adaptation of John Updike's novel; The Witches of Eastwick (1984), starring Marti Pellow is the story of three suburban women and their deepest desires to break from their mundane existence and follows on from the success of the 1987 film staring, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer, Cher and Jack Nicholson as Darryl Van Horne.
Marti Pellow stars as the devilish Darryl Van Horne and delivers a rampant performance, oozing charm, sexuality and all the charisma of "The King". The play encompasses vibrant colours, thrusting dialogue and truly penetrative singing and dance numbers featuring the entire cast. The singing is a real pleasure with numerous superb numbers from Pellow who uses his impressive range to devastating effect.
The performance of Rachel Izen as "Felicia Gabriel" brings an operatic quality to the show as her powerful voice reaches the deepest recesses and she is the perfect foil for the darker, sensual Van Horne. With plenty of laughs, thrills and spills along the way, this adaptation delivers just what it says on the tin; One Horny Little Devil.
In a play fuelled with desire and innuendo Pellow and Co deliver a spellbinding performance.
