An internationally recognised performance poet will be cycling to a number of Bristol bike shops to perform his work as part of the city’s first Cycle Festival.
On 21 September Bristol Cycle Festival Poet David C. Johnson will pedal between a number of cycle shops in the city to perform poetry inspired by cycling and the festival.
He will be performing at shops throughout the day that include Pembury Cycles, Zero–G (formerly Garlands), Mud Dock, Bike UK and Psyclewerx. The programme of readings starts at 11.15 AM at Pembury Cycles, and last for fifteen minutes at each venue.
This is the first year of the Bristol Cycle Festival. It is expected that there will be more than 100 cycling related events over the two week event, which runs from 11-26 September.
The festival has brought together an exciting and divers series of events to help promote the fun of cycling to people in the city. Amongst other entertainments on offer are The Freewheelin Cycle Carnival, bike maintenance workshops, a bicycle sound parade and a performance by The Spokes Bicycle Dancers.
Spokes Bicycle Dancers are the UK’s first all-female mini-bicycle dance troupe, and they will perform routines combining dancing on and off bicycles, as well as tricks, synchronised and formation riding, acrobalance, comedy, and drama.
For full details of the programme of events can be found at the Bristol Cycle Festival website.
