As part of their aim to promote education and cookery skills amongst children through enjoyment, Bristol Wine & Food Fair and Bordeaux Quay restaurant are hosting ‘Bristol’s Young Chef 2010’ children’s cookery competition.
The elimination heats will take place at The Cookery School at Bordeaux Quay on Saturday 3rd July. Previously selected children and a friend will create a two-course menu together, with the theme of the 'Taste of Summer'.
The winners will perform in the Chefs Theatre at the Wine & Food Fair on Sunday 4th July at 5pm. The competition will be judged by Barny Haughton from Bordeaux Quay and Louise McCrimmon from Harvey Nichols.
The winners will receive £200 of cookery equipment for their school and an introductory cookery workshop for themselves.
The Bristol Wine & Food Fair is one of the city’s most popular summer events, and is now in its third year. The event has been expended to run throughout the whole weekend, starting on Friday morning and finishing on Sunday evening.
The event is expected to see some 11,000 visitors throughout the weekend. Tickets for the event, priced £8 per adult in advance, are available from www.bristolwineandfoodfair.com, and all children under the age of 16 go free with a paying adult.
