A new University of Local Knowledge is to be launched in the Knowle West area of Bristol.
The initiative aims to uncover and celebrate the knowledge and skills of people in the community and it is the result of a collaboration between artist Suzanne Lacy, the Knowle West Media Centre and the Arnolfini, the Bristol Evening Post reports.
On Saturday (June 26th), local residents are being invited to attend a lunch on the green outside Filwood Community Centre during which a range of food will be provided.
Among the dishes available to try will be rabbit, Irish stew, locally-grown vegetables, a hog roast and puddings.
As part of the project, the next few months will see 1,000 short film clips produced lasting between 40 seconds and four minutes in which people will tell their stories.
The BBC, which describes itself as the largest broadcasting organisation of its kind in the world, will be supporting the gathering this weekend by recording videos.
