Next month, Bristol Zoo is to hand out packets of seeds to visitors, it has been revealed.
Bosses at the attraction have decided to celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity Day on May 22nd by dishing out the items to families who come through its doors.
Horticulturists keen to make the most of the giveaway will be able to choose from a selection of plants.
Among those available will be cowslips, field scabious, field poppies, wild pansies and field corn flowers.
Bristol Zoo stated: "Have fun with the kids by planting these seeds in your garden and watch them bloom into colourful flowers."
It also noted that by cultivating such life, people can attract many species of insects and birds, which play a vital role in protecting eco-systems.
A diverse garden is less likely to experience problems such as disease and pests, it added.
Situated on a 12-acre site in Clifton, the zoo is run by the Bristol, Clifton and West of England Zoological Society.
