Description:
In a new addition to the Bristol Wine & food Fair, this year sees the popular summer event encouraging young cooks with the “Bristol Young Chef 2010” competition.
Organised in partnership with Bordeaux Quay Cookery School, the organisers of the Fair at Bristol Harbourside aim to find ‘the next Raymond Blanc’. The competition will be open to all Year 4, 5 and 6 students from Bristol’s primary schools.
Famous chefs will select the best young applicants to compete in a “cook off” on the Saturday morning of the Wine & Food Fair. The winners will get the opportunity to perform their recipes on-stage in the Chef’s Theatre on Sunday 4 July, assisted by the fair’s master chefs. Prizes will include cookery equipment vouchers for the winners’ school and a cookery course from Bordeaux Quay Cookery School for themselves.
Adults who want to develop their own culinary skills can attend the Chef’s Master Class Theatre. Free to all visitors to the fair, the theatre will be hosted by some of the South West top chefs, including Freddie Bird (The Lido), Louise McCrimmon (Harvey Nichols), Mark Evans (Cafe Maitreya) and Chris Wicks (Bell’s Diner). The theatre offers a chance to learn new skills from the experts.
Full competition details can be found at the Wine & Food Fair 2010 website. Tickets to the event can also be booked via the website at www.bristolwineandfood.co.uk. All pre-booked tickets are at the discounted price of £8 (tickets cost £10 on the gate). Children under 16 go free. Weekend tickets are available for £15. All entrance tickets will include a free Bristol Wine & Food Fair tasting glass and event programme.
