The south-west hub has not given much away about the changes, but spokesman James Gore said there will be a significant alteration to the name, the BBC reports.
Staff at the airport will become party to the knowledge today (March 12th), but managers have declined to comment on the plans before the official launch.
According to the Bristol Evening Post, since international routes running from the facility now significantly outnumber domestic destinations, bosses no longer feel it is necessary to stress its global credentials.
The move by Bristol Airport, which has roots tracing back to 1927 and processed six million passengers in 12 months leading up to April 2008, comes ahead of a decision concerning a possible expansion.
North Somerset Council is currently deciding whether to grant permission for the plans, which would enable it to handle ten million passengers per annum.
