R.I.P R’ Fred Wedlock! Welcome back Blackthorn cider!
Ello my Brizzle babbers, alright? Sound. Its me, Terry, the odd job man from Bristol.
Welcome to me new weekly column, here at Guide2Bristol, I’m gert excited, proper like! I will be writin’ in two languages: Bristolian & English, so outsiders, you’ll have to proper think about some of me words like. Proper chat from a proper Bristol comedy geezer !
Good news and proper bad news in Brizzle recently. The bad news is r kid, Bristolian folk singer legend, Fred Wedlock, has passed away. I was gutted. R nan loved him. As a mark of respect to Fred, I took some flowers and a pint of cider black to his grave.
The proper gert news is that the old ‘thorn recipe (Blackthorn Cider to you outsiders) is back! I spat out me Natch in r Nan’s face when I found out! I could hear distant cries of ‘Forn I up landlord’ from the Bedminster, Withywood, Southmead areal’s and a few ‘chin chin Blackthorn!’ from Clifton Village. The old recipe will be hittin’ the pubs ‘n that on the 26th March. I’m so proper excited that I’ve created ‘Thorn I Landlord’ day on the 20th March. All you have to do like, is go to yer local and say ‘Thorn I up landlord!’ to the bar maid, even if they don’t sell it mind! I’ve set up the event on Facebook so have a look.
