Bristol hypnotherapy - Coping with fear of flying and holiday nerves

17 December 2009

Description:

Rudy Millard looks at hypnotherapy as a solution to Bristol's aerophobia

As the Christmas season gets up to fever pitch and nerves become frayed, it’s not surprising that many people in Bristol are raiding the travel agents for holiday brochures and dreaming of leaving for foreign shores in search of a well earned break.

Before the last cracker has been pulled and the final pine needle hovered up off the carpet, credit cards across Bristol will have been flexed once again in the pursuit of holiday relaxation in sunnier climes.

Unfortunately for some, a holiday in the sun can bring its own stress and anxiety. Before you can enjoy a cold drink on a hot beach you will often need to head to Bristol airport and get on a plane, unless you fancy spending more time getting there than winding down.

Fear of flying is surprisingly common in the UK. It is sometimes thought that as many as one in five people suffer from air travel nerves or Aerophobia, as it is sometimes known. It can not only spoil the anticipation of a holiday, of course, but also cause extreme difficulties for people who have to travel professionally.

What is less well known is just how simple fear of flying can be to deal with, especially through the use of hypnotherapy. Most good hypnotherapists in Bristol will count aerophobia as a ‘simple phobia’ and be able to help deal with the problem to the extent that the client will not only lose the flying fear, but in many cases actually look forward to and enjoy future flights.

A good hypnotherapist will be happy to explain to you how they can use positive suggestion and trance techniques to help you achieve your flying goal, whether you want to travel regularly on business or take the flight to Australia that you’ve always dreamed of.
