Description:
Endangered gorillas are to be the focus of a special talk next week, as Bristol Zoo marks ten years of its vet service.
Sharon Redrobe established the facility in November 1999 and is the head vet at the venue.
'Gorilla ER - a vet's perspective in and out of Africa' is aimed at raising money for Bristol Zoo's Year of the Gorilla campaign and she will be talking about a range of topics relating to the animals.
These include a pioneering fertility treatment developed in the city, which resulted in the birth of a healthy baby gorilla three years ago.
The talk will take place at the zoo on Thursday November 26th and is set to feature video of the award-winning gorilla cataract surgery conducted in 2002 - the first operation of its kind.
Earlier this month, the zoo held a special fireworks event to celebrate Bonfire Night.
