UK homeowners, including those with a Bristol property, are increasingly likely to make improvements to their current houses, as opposed to seeking new abodes.
This is according to George Clarke, presenter of Build a New Life and Channel 4's The Home Show, who said that the economic downturn has made people sit back and think they do not need to "keep up with the Joneses". He added that they just want a "lovely home" that works for them and their families.
Mr Clarke made his comments after research conducted by the National Home Improvement Show discovered that 91.3 per cent of respondents revealed they were looking to carry out a home improvement project in the next 12 months.
He stated: "Rather than people going off and doing their grand designs and moving to big houses, people are wanting to stay where they are and consolidate what they've got and add value to what they've got."
This is positive as it means people are taking on less additional debt, he added. It seems that Bristol property owners are making the most of what they have.
