The Bristol Old Vic has announced that it will soon re-open its doors of its theatre for the first time since they shut in 2007.
Under the plans announced yesterday the company will stage plays at its home at the Theatre Royal on King Street before moving to a temporary home in 2010, while the remaining refurbishment work is completed.
The basic building work has now been completed and the theatre is the beneficiary of renewed funding from Arts Council England and Bristol City Council.
The Old Vic has already confirmed that a children's play called Home will open on December 27, Other highlights include Bristol Old Vic's Young Company, led by Young Company Director Tid, returning to the Theatre Royal in January for a revival of their hugely successful SAMSON & DELILAH, originally performed in the Studio in July this year, while the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School perform a run of ROMEO AND JULIET taking place between 12 - 21 February in the Theatre Royal.
