A new indoor market is going to be opened in Bristol suburb Clifton in place of the former Woolworths store in Blackboy Hill.
The Bristol Evening Post, readers of which are being invited to name the new bazaar, reported that owner the Endless Property Company is hoping to create the area's answer to Old City's St Nicholas Market - which purports to be one of the region's "best kept secrets".
John Skinner, director at the firm, said there no limits on the types of businesses he would like to see set up at the new site and suggested it offers a wonderful opportunity to people to run their own shop for a low price.
"The idea screamed out to us and there's a two-year waiting list at St Nic's," he remarked. "We've had nearly a dozen unsolicited approaches from businesses already."
At 4,200 sq ft, it is estimated that the old Woolies could fit between 25 and 30 stalls, making it significantly smaller than St Nicholas, which boasts the city's largest collection of independent retailers.
