Description:
Wins for both our football teams this weekend with Bristol Rovers thrashing Hereford 6-1 at the Memorial Stadium and Bristol City picking up a great 3 points with a 3-0 away win at Coventry City.
Rovers were 2 goals up after the first 5 minutes with goals from Daryl Duffy, their £100,000 recent signing from Swansea, and Rickie Lambert. After another ¼ hour Duffy got his second after some great support play from Lambert. 3 more goals followed for Rovers in the second half with Jeff Hughes smashing a right hand shot into the net while Lambert got his brace from a 25 yard free kick, then followed by Chris Lines from another free kick at the same distance. Hereford heads were definitely down after this mauling however Chris Guinan did get a consolation goal from them in injury time.
Bristol City faced a difficult away trip to Coventry however their recent good form at the Ricoh Arena continued as they trounced Coventry 3-0. A clash between Dele Adebola and the Coventry goalkeeper following Michael McIndoe's cross from the left week left the keeper motionless while Dele poked showed his goal scoring instinct by getting his foot on the ball from the ground to slot it into the net. In the second half Adebola turned provider for McIndoe to score in the 54th minute and substitute Steve Brooker wrapped the game up in the 90th minute for a great result for City. It keeps them unbeaten at right in the mix near the top of the Championship table.
