Love will be in the air for Bristol foodies this weekend, as Bristol Love Food Festival comes to Paintworks.
Over 1000 people are expected to attend the event on Sunday 12 February that aims to bring families and communities together for a festival to feed the senses.
The Paintworks indoor market on Bath Road in Brislington will become a focal point for local independent food producers exhibiting delicious treats and gifts.
Organisers of Love Food Festival have also staged a champagne and raw chocolate lounge at the event, that will be housed in a pink yurt. Decorated with sumptuous furnishings and sparkling lights, the champagne lounge aims to be a decadent space for visitors to indulge themselves in the ‘food of the gods’, including a ‘love potion’ cocktail made with ten aphrodisiac herbs in a goji berry syrup. There will also be the chance to see what love has in store with a resident Tarot card reader.
UK oyster expert Katy Davidson of Mangez Moi will be making a special appearance at the Love Food Festival to give foodies a midday master class in the aphrodisiac qualities of oysters. She will be running a master class at midday to demonstrate preparation techniques, as well as selling Cornish oysters.
Live classical string music will be performed at the festival, which is free to enter and runs between 10.30AM and 4PM. A selection of hot food including local steak sandwiches and paella will be served on the day. Resident festival cider expert Dick Willows will be tending bar alongside local brewers Arbor Ales.
There will be entertainments for children at Bristol Love Food this weekend too, with a variety of activities including tai chi, story-telling, ceramic heart painting, card making, paper flower making and face painting.
People who enjoy locally sourced foods will also get the chance to start nominating their favourite local producers, who will be competing in the Bristol Good Food Awards. The Bristol Good Food Awards will be recognizing the best in local food production, and will be judged at a special event to be held at the Love Food Spring Festival being held at Brunel’s Old Passenger Shed in Bristol on 31 March.
