The Lion King musical tour is coming to Bristol Hippodrome in September, much to the delight of the city’s musical fans.
The sell-out musical begins a two and a half year national tour on Thursday 06 September, and runs at the Bristol Hippodrome for eleven weeks before travelling the country visiting nine more cities with a production cast and crew of 52 people.
The show is a favourite of musical theatre fans around the globe, and has been seen by over 65 million people worldwide since it premiered on Broadway in 1997.
Based on Disney’s animated film, the production has been adapted for stage by Director and Co-Designer Julie Taymor. The Lion King tells the story of lion cub Simba and his life and struggles as he matures to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destined role of King. Taymor’s production has achieved success on an international scale, telling a story of hope, community and the circle of life.
The musical has won many awards, and has played in 15 countries on 5 continents, as well as having been translated into 6 languages.
