Bristol City kicked off their season with a hard fought 1-0 victory away at Blackpool. A last minute shot from substitute striker Steve Brooker gave The Robins their first 3 points of the season much to the delight of an estimated 1,500 fans who made the trip up from Bristol. This week see Bristol City at home to Peterborough on Tuesday 12^th in the League Cup and their first Championship home fixture on Saturday 16^th August v Derby County who were relegated from the Premiership last season.

Bristol Rovers suffered a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Carlisle United. All looked rosy as they took the lead in the 15^th minute when Rickie Lambert headed in the opener however this was cancelled out after just 4 minutes when Danny Carlton headed the equaliser. Things went from bad to worse as in first half injury time Marc Bridge-Wilkinson fired in an 18 yard shot to send Carlisle in 2-1 up at the break. Further pressure from Carlisle saw a 3^rd goal and 2^nd from Carlton in the 80^th minute and Andy Williams 90^th minute breakaway goal in the 90^th minute for Rovers proved to be mere consolation. This week Bristol Rovers are away to Watford on Tuesday 16^th August in the League Cup and then away in Division 1 against Brighton on Saturday 16^th August.
