The Bristol Short Story Prize and the Bristol Festival of Ideas are joining forces to present an exciting literary event at the Arnolfini on Thursday 01 March.
Author Jon McGregor will be visiting the Arnolfini to take part in a ShortStoryVille special, performing some of the stories from This Isn’t The Sort Of Thing That Happens To Someone Like You, his stunning new collection of short stories which is being published to celebrate Bloomsbury’s Year of the Short Story.
Jon McGregor is one of the UK’s most exciting and original writers; his first two novels were both longlisted for the Man Booker prize.
After the performance Mr McGregor will be signing copies of his book in the Arnolfini bookshop. The event starts at 6.00PM. Tickets cost £4 and are available online at www.arnolfini.org.uk or by telephone on 0117 9172300.
The Bristol Short Story Prize is an international short story competition open to all UK and non UK writers. The closing date for entries is 31 March 2012; a shortlist of 20 short stories will be published in the Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Volume 5 with the winning story also published in the Bristol Review of Books and Venue Magazine, there will be cash prizes of £1,000, £700 and £400 for first, second and third place respectively and the other 17 shortlisted entries will win £100 each.
