New Bristol Bierkeller Theatre opens this month
Bristol’s newest theatre will open its doors for the first time on Monday 16 January when FarOutMan Theatre present Rescue Me, a new play written by Jared Morgan.
The new 400 seater Bierkeller Theatre is located in Bristol’s oldest continuously running venue, the Bristol Bierkeller in All Saints Street; its inaugural season of theatre and performance begins on Monday 16 January and features a wide range of productions from eight theatre companies including classical works such as Romeo and Juliet and a promenade performance of Moby Dick.
The very first theatre company to take to the Bierkeller Stage will be FarOutMan Theatre, a company of professional actors all local to Bristol.
Rescue Me is set in a women’s refuge and demonstrates how unexpected humour can often spring out of despair; it tells the story of a group of five women who band together in friendship and hope for their future, but old wounds and troubled histories begin to hinder relationships. When a face from the past pays an unexpected visit their companionship undergoes the ultimate trial.
Rescue Me will be performed at 8.15PM each evening from Monday 16 to Thursday 19 January and from Sunday 22 until Thursday 26 January. Tickets cost £8.50 in advance or £10 on the door. Special offers include 20% discount for groups of five or more; a complimentary glass of wine at select performances including the opening night and generous discounts for schools and large group bookings.
