Two Bristol companies are taking place in Grand Final of the Born Global 2011 business competition, which takes place at Leigh Court today.
Gnodal and Warrentech, who produce power efficiency equipment for data centres and a failsafe ladder locking and leveling invention respectively, will be competing against 13 other finalists to win the competition which was created by GWE Business West to encourage exports from the South West region to other countries.
The finalists will all present their business ideas to an audience of 100 international business experts, mentors and investment angels. The audience will vote to choose the top three companies, who will then re-pitch their ideas to a panel of Born Global judges to find the GWE Business West Born Global Business of 2011.
Over 90 companies across the South West applied for the chance to pitch their business ideas to get into the Grand Final. The companies competing today stand the chance to win a share in the prize fund of £50,000 in cash, business support and services.
Phil Smith, Managing Director of GWE Business West said, “We’ve been delighted by the response to Born Global 2011. The standard of applications has been exceptionally high, ably demonstrating that the South West is one of the most creative, innovative and resilient business regions in the UK. Our huge congratulations go to the 15 finalists who’ve made it through to the final stage of the competition, and we wish you all luck on the big day!”
