Hotwells is a district of Bristol situated on the waterfront of Bristol Harbour. Sitting to the south of Clifton, and to the west of the City Centre, the area is defined by its mix of fine Georgian Architecture and modern developments, the city docks and a number of great pubs - including the Mardyke, the Merchant Arms, the Rose of Denmark, La Demi Lune, Plume of Feathers, The Bear, The Orchard, Nova Scotia, The Bristol Beer Factory, The Pump House, The Myrtle Tree and The Bag O Nails.
Hotwells has a brief history as a spa resort up until the mid 19th C and takes its name from the hot springs that came up from the bed of the River Avon.
Hotwells road has a number of shops including a car dealership, garage, convenience store, outa number of take aways and restaurants.
The harbour plays an important part in the life of Hotwells with a number of pubs offering waterfront beer gardens, activities such as canoeing and sailing take place on the water. It is also possible to catch the ferry from Hotwells into the city centre.
Hotwells has undergone major redevelopment over the past few years with waterfront flats and penthouses providing a real boost to the area.
