Fishponds is a district situated to the north east of Bristol City Centre, surrounded by the districts of Eastville, Downend, Staple Hill, St George and Stapleton. It is a mainly residential area characterized by its Victorian terraced housing. There is a high street with many stores including supermarkets, fast food outlets, and local shops including charity shops. There are a total of 15 pubs in the Fishponds area.
Fishponds has two large parks: Eastville Park and Vassells Park (also known as Oldbury Court Estate), which is a park with woodland which the river Frome runs through and with paths linking the park with Eastville Park. A cycle path runs parallel to Fishponds Road from Bristol to Bath. Snuff Mills, a restored mill is situated near the Vassells Park end of the River Frome.
