Clifton stretches from Whiteladies Road in the east to the Avon Gorge in the west, and from Clifton Down and Durdham Down in the north down to the top of Hotwells.
Clifton is one of the oldest and most affluent areas of the city home to many of Bristol University's buildings and the BBC Bristol centre. The area is popular with students with many of the grand Georgian buildings converted into flats. Royal York Crescent in Clifton is the longest Georgian Crescent in the UK built at the time Clifton was a fashionable spa.
Whiteladies road is a popular shopping area, with a large number of bars, restaurants and pubs. Clifton Village is a smaller shopping area with a village feel made up mostly of boutiques, restaurants, pubs and bars.
