The South Gloucestershire village of Alveston is 13 miles north of Bristol, and is situated about 3 miles from the town of Thornbury. Located at the Southern end of the Vale of Berkeley, Alveston is a village with a long history, and has a very active local history society. Local pub the Ship Inn dates back to 1598. Alveston serves as a gateway to the first Seven road bridge.
