East Street is a main shopping street in the South Bristol area of Bedminster. It is located very close to Dame Emily Park and Southville.

It has a variety of small retailers, cafes, fast food outlets and pubs, and is part pedestrianised. It is home to a large Asda supermarket which has been recently refurbished, and is one of the largest supermarkets in the area.

Most of the major banks have a presence on East Street, and it is very busy most days of the week. There are a variety of market stalls that can be found selling everything from flowers and fruit and vegetables to towels and rugs, and you’re guaranteed to see locals of all ages holding forth on the issues of the day in all weathers. East Street also has a number of charity shops that are well regarded by Bristol’s bargain hunters.

There are some interesting architectural features to be found if you look carefully – including a lovely moulded fascia above Pets Plus, pictured right.
