University of Bristol and University of the West of England are the main institutions that bring students to the city, but there are many other centres of learning in Bristol, and the student population is very diverse.

Whilst the city has a vibrant and unique life of its own, there is no doubt during term time the students bring the streets of Bristol to life in a way that the native population find hard to do without a bit of help. And if that means that there's less room on the pavements for a few months each year, that's a small price to pay!
