There are many expatriate Australians living and working in Bristol, and many retain close family, business or investment connections with Australia.
Working overseas can be enormously enriching in terms of personal experience, and also in financial terms if properly planned and managed but at the same time people can really miss their country and will do pretty much anything to get in contact with fellow Australians.
Our aim at Guide2Bristol is to help Australian expatriates make the most of their time overseas and assist in their transition in and out of Australia by linking them to the Australian community within the city.
Places to visit:
Walkabout Australian Bar - often a first port of call for Ozzies and Kiwis new to the city, this lively city centre bar is viewed as the hub of the Bristol Australasian community. It's a popular place, and is one of the longest running bars on Corn Street. Great people, great beer and great tucker - what more can you ask for?
Rewind Retro Bar - this new city centre bar is part of the Walkabout family, so you can be sure of a great Ozzie vibe! It's the place to go in Bristol if you loved the 70s and 80s so much that you fancy spending a night back there. Loads of fun to be had here, and the Wednesday Student night is the stuff of Bristol legends.
