Gloucester Road is the main street running through Bishopston and is home to a vast array of independent shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a couple of supermarkets. The area, situated on the outskirts of Bristol city centre has excellent transport links and a fair mix of family housing and student accommodation. Victorian houses on tree lined streets can be found in Bishopston and it is in the catchment area for the new Redland Green School opening in September 2008.
Everything you could ever need can be found somewhere on Gloucester Road, from local butchers, bakers, fruit and veg shops to charity shops, fair-trade clothing, opticians and electrical stores. There are bars every few hundred yards (or less), such as The Robin Hood, Goose at the Flyer, The Rising Sun, Prince of Wales and The Forresters. A wide selection of restaurants and take aways cater for all tastes.
