Gloucester Road runs from Redland and St. Andrews northwards to Filton. It cuts through Horfield and Bishopston. Gloucester Road is home to many Indian, Italian, Chinese, Greek and other ethnic restaurants.
It is a long road that can offer shops selling pretty much anything that you can think of, including great clothes shops, charity shops, second-hand furniture shops, records shops and food shops. Many people who live in the area prefer to shop locally rather than travelling to Bristol city centre, as the shopping available on their doorstep is so comprehensive.
Gloucester Road and the areas it cuts through are popular with students and young professionals, as well as a large numbers of families. Popular student pubs include the Rising Sun, the Cat and Wheel and the Prince of Wales, whilst good pubs with good food include The Bristol Flyer and the Robin Hood. Gloucester Road provides a friendly feel with revelers mixing freely and walking to and from the options it has to offer. The Golden Lion is a trendy student style pub with regular live music.
