Whiteladies Road takes you from the hubbub of the traffic whizzing past the Victoria Rooms, Habitat and the Royal West of England Academy, all the way up to the calm tranquillity of the Downs. Along the way you’ll go past the BBC, the Clifton Down Shopping Centre, the Clifton Down railway station, and about a trillion shops and restaurants of all shapes and sizes.

Sometimes known as ‘the strip’ due to the proliferation of bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants around the Clifton Down area, Whiteladies Road has always been a focal point for Bristol, whether it’s day or night. If it’s shopping you’re after then you are spoiled for choice, with a wide selection of independent shops and large stores selling everything from electronics and furniture to clothes and bicycles, and pretty much everything in between.
If you fancy taking it all in then walking is the way, but if you want to get from one end to the other quickly then it’s bus, taxi or car. Many fit Bristolians tackle it on a bike…but if you’re heading in the direction of the Downs, it gets very steep towards the Blackboy Hill end!
