This is the nearest shopping area to the University precinct. The major banks (Barclays, Lloyds,NatWest.) and the main Post Office (in the Co-op shop) are all situated in Queen's Road. There are supermarkets (Sainsbury's and Co-op), newsagents, a chemist (pharmacy/drug store) (Boots), travel agents (American Express, STA Travel), shoe shops, and several restaurants/coffee bars. Park Street has several bookshops and small clothes shops as well as plenty of bars and cafes.
Ever popular and seemingly constantly busy, head to Park Street for great shops, cafes, restaurants and not to mention some great pubs, bars and nightclubs. At the top of the road you'll find the hugely popular Yia Mass, a lively Greek joint with a genuine Med feel.
For the more sophisticated palate next door is Goldbrick House, a classy champagne bar and restaurant set over an extravagant, almost labyrinthine three floors. Find Oppo across the road, a music bar above the unmistakable Beijing Bistro. The Elbow Room is an American style mini cool pool hall complete with funky beats. The Ram is a more traditional pub offering a decent food menu and also live acoustic music on the weekends. Java is a new addition to the scene with a great location and exclusive feel.
The nightclubs on Park Street include the student venue the Cooler and Easy Tiger, the name says it all.
