Whitchurch is the last suburb before leaving South Bristol via the Wells Road (A37) and is the only part of Bristol using the North Somerset dialing code of 01275 rather than Bristol's 0117.
The area is mainly residential and as you pass The Yeoman pub on the A37 you head into what is termed as Whitchurch Village. Whitchurch Sports centre is a main attraction and a number of professional boxing bouts have been hosted there for up and coming Bristol fighters. The area is also part of Bristol City Councils regeneration project and the sports centre has been earmarked for major redevelopment.
Some local shops are found around Gilda Parade including a café and Paprika - a great Indian restaurant - and across the road is the garage which includes a Tesco Metro store.
Schools in the area include Whitchurch Primary School and Wansdyke Primary School.
