Children and babies are cared for from 0-5 years though all the pre-school years of early childhood. We take great pride in our work and achievement with children and have many years of experience of working in partnership with families in day care. Our group sizes for children are small and we are well resourced to provide the very best standards of care and learning for young children and babies.

0-2 Years - The First Room

The first room for your baby is located on the ground floor, at the front of the building. This room is light, spacious and looks out over the front garden. Babies are cared for in a safe and well resourced play environment with a wide variety of sensory toys and books. We have lots of messy activities too and spend lots of time in the garden. Each child has their own individual care plan where all needs are met.

Our carefully selected and experienced 0-2 year Keyworkers understand the needs of both parents and children alike, especially in these first months, when everything is new and your child is in a period of rapid growth, with ever changing needs. To meet these needs we carry out an induction with you shortly before your child’s first day. Your child’s 0-2 year Keyworker draws up your child’s care plan with you combining care at home with the nursery day to give the best possible start for both you and your child.

0-2 Years - The Middle Room

The middle room for the older group of 0-2 year children is also at the front of the building, large, with good natural light and spacious so your child can move about freely and safely exploring the activities available as this age group need; as is the outside play area where this group equally enjoy large parts of their day.

0-2 year Keyworkers have now built up their caring relationship with your child invaluable in supporting learning for this middle group, at this especially important time, for the development of good first social skills and language skills. This is the age when your child will often begin to develop independence and self-will begins to emerge. Learning to share with others, caring and making friends with their peers, becomes a big next step in your child’s development as is the development of speech and increasing their understanding of the meaning and significance of words.

2-5 Years

Older children have use of the rooms at the rear of the building. Your child has free access to the garden from this open plan area which provides good space for freedom of choice with minimal restriction for all the 2-5 year group of children. This practice is called Free-flow.

Placing minimal restriction on your child allows them to develop play and choose toys independently. When it is your child’s choice of play, play simply becomes more meaningful than that of play chosen for them. Your child learns best from their chosen interest combined with the knowledge of their Keyworker who works to enhance their learning experience.

Before your child progresses to the 2-5 year group, as when you started at the Nursery, we again take you through an induction procedure. This takes place with a 2-5 year Keyworker shortly before your child moves to introduce and welcome you to the 2-5 year group.
