Bristol Rugby Update
Bristol Rugby - November 2009
Two wins in the Championship and a win and a loss in the British & Irish Cup
A so-so month for Bristol but certainly a vast improvement on October where they crashed to defeats by both Exeter and Doncaster. Wins in the Championship against both Plymouth Albion and Nottingham have seen Bristol consolidate 2nd position behind Exeter Chiefs who are still unbeaten this season.
December (and New Years Day) has 5 fixtures for Bristol Rugby and they start of with what should be comfortable fixtures against Birmingham-Solihull and Rotheram Titans before things get a tad harder against top half of the table teams Bedford Blues, Cornish Pirates and the biggie - Away to Exeter Chiefs.
December 2009 fixtures:-
Sunday 6th December - HOME v Birmingham-Solihull
Saturday 12th December - AWAY v Rotherham Titans
Friday 18th December - HOME v Bedford Blues
Sunday 27th December - AWAY v Exeter Chiefs
Friday 1st January 2010 - HOME v Cornish Pirates
5 wins out of 5 expected and I'm sure Hully won't be a happy chappy until Bristol are back on top of the table.
November also saw the start of the British & Irish Cup and the away fixture v Munster "A" was always going to be tough. Not too sure how seriously Paul Hull is taking this competition and it does seem this is where he is blooding the young guns. Both fixtures were away in November and a victory at Neath by 18-11 set Bristol on their way to Ireland the following Friday against surely the toughest team in their league, being Munster "A". Bristol were undone here eventually going down 18-6 but can hold their heads up high for their performance and good to see a few of the new faces making their first start, those being Mako Vunipola, Ben Glynn and Sam Giddens.
