How to choose a hypnotherapist in Bristol

There are a lot of hypnotherapists in Bristol so you have a lot of choice but how do you choose the best one for you?

There are 4 things to think about.

Firstly, make sure the hypnotherapist is a member of a recognised association. The National Regulatory Register lists all members of UK hypnotherapy associations.  A hypnotherapist who is a member of a recognised association will have up to date insurance, an ethical code and there is someone to complain to if you are unsatisfied with your treatment.

Secondly, decide if you want  a specialist or a generalist. Whilst a specialist will often have more in depth knowledge of a particular area, a generalist may have more experience of a number of issues which can help if you think that there are a lot of aspects involved. For example, a weight problem could be due to lack of self esteem, an addiction could be a result of a childhood loss and a phobia could be related to a past trauma.

Thridly - and possibly the most important factor - choose the hypnotherapist who you feel most drawn to. Do some research into your hypnotherapist.  Look at their website, email them and talk to them on the phone to make sure that you feel comfortable with them and that you think they can help you.  Read reviews and testimonials and ask friends if they can recommend anyone.

Some things that may be important to you are their age, their gender, their background, the way they speak to you, the way they present information to you, the techniques they use and how you feel after talking to them. If you don't feel comfortable with them then you may not get the results you want.

Finally, the cost and number of sessions will probably play a part in your choice too.  It can be difficult to say exactly how many sessions you will need but the hypnotherapist should be able to give you some indication.  Some people prefer to pay a higher price and do fewer sessions, others to pay less but do more sessions.  Some people charge less because they work from home and others charge more because they have more experience.

If you have any questions about choosing a hypnptherapist then please do contact me.  I know a lot of Bristol hypnotherapists and if I'm not the right hypnotherapist for you then I can refer you to someone who is.
